One of the young lads has been going thru a challenging time with his life. As he was leaving our get-together at my home, I suddenly thought to give him one of the Metrobians sculpts. The look on his face was so warming. He saw sadness in the little sculpt and just stared at it. I purchased my corset from www.damselinthisdress.comHere's some pics of my work! I will add more to the slideshow as I get the pictures taken. As the winter progresses, I will be adding colonial civilian clothing because our group will be working with a local library Trudihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15016070512937973226noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2649716674558322176.post-87913467505385306402010-07-23T00:01:00.002-04:002010-07-23T00:02:08.352-04:00Off topic a bit.Since I somewhat un-school, I like to create life-application projects for the kids to do. A couple years ago they had to create something to sell at a local Farmer's Market and learn all about buying & selling. They still talk about it to this day! This year we've decided to write and publish a magazine to get them to further develop their writing and creative skills. The goal is to get other Trudihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15016070512937973226noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2649716674558322176.post-35615679789708619432010-04-27T21:38:00.003-04:002010-04-27T22:39:26.981-04:00Granny and Baby! The mohair was not what I expected and am not sure it is sellable. On the good side, I am going with a friend to a place to learn to spin, so I'm going to use the mohair for spinning and see what happens. I am SO excited! Here's a couple pictures of my newest sculpture to add to the Metrobian Clan: granny & baby. Granny sits less than 2.5 inches! My paypal account finally had enough money to get it in. One pound is probably not going to be in enough locks to dye & sell for sculpts so I intend to dye it and visit a shop nearby that has a spinning wheel I can try my hand at spinning the hair into yarn. Squeeee! Sounds like FUN!The other pound I will be dying and selling. I prefer to sell off ebay Trudihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15016070512937973226noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2649716674558322176.post-22732929011759986222010-02-10T18:33:00.003-05:002010-04-14T22:10:41.374-04:00NEW VIDEO!I finally got it edited and uploaded!Sculpting Tips on YouTube showing my sculpting process and tips while I create this baby:Trudihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15016070512937973226noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2649716674558322176.post-5918004443531182122010-01-29T18:39:00.004-05:002010-04-14T22:11:13.978-04:00New one in blue2 more sculpts. After sculpting and comparing to the first 2, I realize some of my sculpting issues: the beads for the eyes were smaller for the 2nd sculpts, giving them a much different look! I was highly frustrated with these 2 and the little sitting one got an eye patch because the super glue for his hair ran over his eye. A definite casualty! Everything seemed to go wrong with Trudihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15016070512937973226noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2649716674558322176.post-24502272279393615122010-01-15T14:27:00.003-05:002010-04-14T22:11:33.105-04:00Little DudesI'm not sure what to call these little guys, but here's 2 I've fully enjoyed sculpting! It is a blast sculpting something that is not a baby. They are less than 2.25" tall in their seated position. Their hair is mink from pieces of a cut up coat.I need help in what to call this kind of critter tribe so if anyone is inspired, let me know!!Trudihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15016070512937973226noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2649716674558322176.post-23421915955959945842009-12-10T18:10:00.005-05:002010-04-14T22:07:49.506-04:00It's raining babies from heaven! The baby has a home now! I found a great ornament that fit her perfectly! The hard part was to take the old ornament apart ... yeowch! I ended up impaling my fingers on the glass as the bottom broke off. My 2 youngest boys (4 & 5) had a blast giving mommy first aid!One Of A Kind (OOAK) polymer clay sculpted baby has been sculpted by hand. I was working on having eyes open and still need to work on that. I also need to say that this sculpt looks SO much better in person! There's just something not good about the macro focus on cameras! LOL! They show all the 'invisible' flaws. oh well. This one is for sale too. I am not sure what I will accept for a price because I like her so Trudihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15016070512937973226noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2649716674558322176.post-12455998381043588682009-09-21T23:25:00.006-04:002010-04-14T22:12:14.275-04:00New inspirationI decided to pull out my clay & start sculpting again. Surprisingly, it was a success! Normally, I have a 'learning' curve when I've been away from sculpting for awhile. But not this time. I am putting together a sneak peek here. This one is for sale. Please leave me a message or send me an email (madebytrudi at gmail.com) if you would like to purchase this sculpt! I haven't gotten my website finished, and then decided I may just let the whole thing expire this August or whenever it is that it expires. I don't have the extra money to keep it up, esp since it looks like I will Trudihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15016070512937973226noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2649716674558322176.post-85691359474080099662009-01-29T18:17:00.002-05:002009-01-29T18:19:46.169-05:00new websiteI am in the process of building a new website.. I've never been happy with the old look but dealt with it anyway. I am excited now because I found some awesome tutorials to help me understand my GIMP program to edit photos & such! They are very fragile and I may need to re-do the fin and use wire instead. This is my first mermaid sculpt and I'm pretty pleased with his results!
