It's raining babies from heaven!

The baby has a home now! I found a great ornament that fit her perfectly! The hard part was to take the old ornament apart ... yeowch! I ended up impaling my fingers on the glass as the bottom broke off. My 2 youngest boys (4 & 5) had a blast giving mommy first aid!

One Of A Kind (OOAK) polymer clay sculpted baby has been sculpted by hand. Mohair has been applied and she's been blushed with Genesis Heat Set Paints. She is enclosed in a glass tear-drop shaped ornament and can be displayed on a shelf or by hanging. She is swaddled in a pink ribbon that is 'floating' on polyfill fibers to resemble a cloud on the inside and outside. The

This would be a beautiful and unique baby gift, or a baby's first Christmas ornament! This would even be a lovely memorial gift for someone who has recently lost a child either preterm or postnatally. The glass ball can represent a mother's tear and the ribbon represents the womb.

The baby measures a hair above 1 inch. The whole display measures just under 4 inches tall!

Calendula Baby

The newest sculpt I created around September 2009. I was working on having eyes open and still need to work on that. I also need to say that this sculpt looks SO much better in person! There's just something not good about the macro focus on cameras! LOL! They show all the 'invisible' flaws. oh well. This one is for sale too. I am not sure what I will accept for a price because I like her so much!

New inspiration

I decided to pull out my clay & start sculpting again. Surprisingly, it was a success! Normally, I have a 'learning' curve when I've been away from sculpting for awhile. But not this time. I am putting together a sneak peek here.

This one is for sale. Please leave me a message or send me an email (madebytrudi at gmail.com) if you would like to purchase this sculpt! The baby is 2 inches long.

long time away

I've been too consumed with flares this past Feb & March, then consumed with finding time and energy for gardening & homeschooling and drs visits.... sigh.. time has just flown! I haven't gotten my website finished, and then decided I may just let the whole thing expire this August or whenever it is that it expires. I don't have the extra money to keep it up, esp since it looks like I will probably not be sculpting or sewing as much as I had intended! I am somewhat sad, but am not allowing myself to say 'never'. That leaves my future open to whatever possibilities available. But, I was getting a very nice website almost finished! LOL! I'll get it up & running for at least a couple months anyhow.

For those visiting for sculpting information, ask away & I'll give answers or links to answers for you! To the right are a lot of excellent books & supplies for those interested in starting sculpting. Click on the store and you will be able to see all that is available. There is more than just books available!

I will always keep this blog updated too. I have some babyslings still available to sell as well and will post pictures when I get them uploaded.

I will also sew American Girl costumes upon request, if you allow me a little extra time to deal with my spondy flares. Things move slower some days.

new website

I am in the process of building a new website.. I've never been happy with the old look but dealt with it anyway. I am excited now because I found some awesome tutorials to help me understand my GIMP program to edit photos & such! I hope to have the website completed by next week... I just need to stop changing my mind on colors! LOL!

I have one glass ball that is still useable and I'm trying to make a little merbaby to 'float' inside. Having problems on my sculpting technique though.. I think I need to watch a refresher video or something! LOL!

Epic in mini proportions

I have been thinking & working on a grand idea for awhile now & have finally accomplished a seemingly impossible task! To put a sculpted baby into a glass ball ornament. Here is the baby before assembling to the base....

Here is the baby attached to it's base to make it appear 'floating' or sitting on it's bottom...

I am so very excited to have accomplished this seemingly impossible task!! woohoo!! It really took a lot of my energy and time but it was worth it. Now I am scared to post it to ebay ..what if it cracks during shipping?? And what if it doesn't sell?? I'll post an update when I put up the video of it and it's ebay listing.
